Jennifer Griffith as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism is the chief administrator and provides strategic guidance on all matters to the agencies that fall under the Ministry's purview.
Prior to her appointment as Permanent Secretary in 2006, she held the post of Senior Director, Strategic Planning and Evaluation with responsibilities straddling the tourism, industry and entertainment portfolios.
Mrs. Griffith joined the Ministry in 1997 as Tourism Planner. She was responsible for co-ordinating the preparation of the Master Plan for Sustainable Tourism Development in Jamaica, which seeks to guide the industry's development over the decade commencing 2002.
She was also responsible for the enactment of legislation establishing the Tourism Enhancement Fund, which is intended to promote growth and development in the tourism sector, and spearheading the establishment of the Management Unit for the Fund.
Mrs. Griffith is a graduate of the College of Arts, Science and Technology (CAST) now University of Technology. She has pursued graduate and postgraduate studies at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, USA, as well as continuing education programmes in tourism product development and management.
