LONDON, ENGLAND: November 3, 2014 - World Travel Market, one of the leading global events for the travel industry, got off to a favourable start for Jamaica with Minister of Tourism and Entertainment, the Hon Dr Wykeham McNeill, and Director of Tourism, Paul Pennicook, holding high profile meetings with key tourism partners.

One such meeting was held with Barrhead Travel with which the Jamaica Tourist Board partnered for the staging of Jamaica House 2014 at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. Since then, Barrhead Travel has seen a 17% increase in sales to the island.  Meetings were also held with Virgin Atlantic, Tropical Sky and Lowcost Travel Group.

World Travel Market provides the opportunity for representatives from a diverse range of destinations and industry sectors to network with prospective partners as well as to reconnect with stakeholders. Despite the busy schedule, Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism and Entertainment took the opportunity to meet with the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) Chair and Barbados Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy.  World Travel Market runs from November 3-6 in the United Kingdom.
