Jamaica Centre of Tourism Innovation to Partner with Toronto Metropolitan University to Elevate Tourism Workforce Development

TORONTO, Canada; Thursday October 8, 2025: Minister of Tourism, Hon Edmund Bartlett, has announced that initial discussions have started to have the Jamaica Centre of Tourism Innovation (JCTI) and Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) collaborate to develop comprehensive training and certification programs for tourism professionals across Jamaica. This groundbreaking partnership will aim to strengthen the capabilities of Jamaica's tourism workforce by providing world-class professional development opportunities that align with international industry standards. The collaboration will leverage TMU's extensive expertise in hospitality and tourism education alongside JCTI's deep understanding of the Caribbean tourism landscape. “This partnership represents a significant milestone in our commitment to building a highly skilled, globally competitive tourism workforce,” said Minister of Tourism, Hon Edmund Bartlett. “By working with Toronto Metropolitan University, we're bringing internationally recognized training standards to Jamaica while ensuring our programs reflect the unique strengths of Caribbean hospitality.”

Cabinet Approves Introduction of National Entertainment Registry and Event Rating System

TEF Donates Motorcycles to the Negril Police

NEGRIL, Westmoreland: August 31, 2014: As part of an ongoing effort to further enhance safety and security in resort areas island-wide, the Ministry of Tourism and Entertainment, through the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF), has been pumping millions of dollars into boosting the crime fighting efforts of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF). TPDCo Equips Police Officers to Become Team Jamaica Trainers

Kingston Jamaica: September 2, 2014 - The first batch of police officers to be trained as team trainers in The Tourism Product Development Company Ltd.’s (TPDCo.) flagship “ Team Jamaica” programme completed this rigorous exercise in Kingston recently. TEF Allocates $25 Million to Renovate Negril Police Station

NEGRIL, Westmoreland: September 3, 2014: Work is to begin this month on a $25 million project to renovate the Negril Police Station in Westmoreland. Built in 1986, the station which serves the resort town is badly in need of repairs. The money is being made available by the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF), as part of its ongoing effort to further enhance safety and security in resort areas island-wide.
