Ladies and Gentlemen, Good evening.
I am pleased to be here to officially launch Jamaica Experiences - a great multimedia enterprise (web, mobile app, television, magazine and newspaper) that promotes Jamaica and showcases our tourism product.
I have great admiration for David Hall – the driving force behind Jamaica Experiences– as a tourism partner and as a friend.
David is a charismatic and visionary businessman who is redefining the island’s tourism product. He sees opportunity and rises to the occasion.
David foresaw a vital need for a premium airport lounge and concierge service and the result was VIP Attractions, which operates the award-winning Club MoBay and Club Kingston at our international airports.
Now David is embarking on a new venture that leverages new technology to maximum effect.
The idea for Jamaica Experiences was born out of discussions with the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) and its Chairman, John Lynch, who saw the need and an opportunity in the marketplace for a multimedia platform to promote all the great things about Jamaica. David seized the opportunity and here we are this evening.
Multimedia platforms like Jamaica Experiences, which have the ability to reach large and disparate international audiences, are critical when dealing with the tourism and travel industry.
Jamaica Experienceswill reach an audience exceeding two million individuals in its first year, engaging persons through quality content that showcases the rich, diverse and unique vacation experience that Jamaica has to offer.
Jamaica Experiences communicates with those interested in visiting Jamaica and visitors while they are here, via the medium of their choice. It offers an effective multi-channel platform to educate, engage and inform the audience about Jamaica.
This interactive multimedia platform has an important and valuable role to play as an effective tool to market and promote Jamaica and lends considerable support to the marketing efforts of the JTB and other tourism stakeholders.
What’s great about Jamaica Experiences are the vast opportunities it provides:
Brand Awareness - Businesses get their brands in front of visitors and potential visitors to our island. In addition, the JTB will be helping Jamaica Experiences in reaching an expanded audience as part of its efforts to promote the island globally.
Promotion - Tourists get to see all that Jamaica has to offer before they come to the country and while they are here.
Engagement - This interactive platform provides tourists with a place to share their holiday experiences, places they have gone to and people they met. In addition, there will be photo and video competitions where tourists can send photos of their amazing holiday experiences.
Jamaica Experienceshas received tremendous support from the local business community, which is a strong reflection of what can happen when the private and public sectors are working together.
Some of the amazing iconic Jamaican brands that have come onboard for the very first issue are Red Stripe, Appleton, Digicel, Jamaica Tours, Island Routes, Sandals, Dolphin Cove and Chukka, just to name but a few.
This not only shows the faith and credibility of this new entity but faith in Jamaica and the world class tourism product that we have to offer to the world.
David has fully embraced what it means to be Jamaican as he embarks on initiatives aimed at strengthening and improving this country from a private sector perspective.
